It doesn’t look good as professional salespeople, to turn up at a client (or potential client) meeting, coughing and sneezing.

As well as counter-productive to activity levels, a cough can be super irritating to colleagues, family and friends. Blaming the chilli weather is one excuse, but most people know it’s either down to smoking or a breakdown in health. Fortunately, there is a way to avoid coughs, colds and runny noses forever…

Sidney cooking Paella

As sales people, it’s not always easy to find the time to cook (or exercise regularly).  However, there are  a few healthy recipes every salesman and sales woman should master – because they’re quick and healthy.

The Mediterranean diet is well known for being quite a healthy one: lots of fresh fruits, veggies and olive oil (and a little red wine:) One of the most popular dishes, which originates from Valencia on the East Coast of Spain, is Paella – it’s packed with goodness and really tasty. Here’s a quick version:

Ensure a good night's sleep

Poor sleep isn’t just annoying because it’s boring lying in bed looking up at the ceiling all night, it can also make us far more susceptible to poor health, such as catching colds.

A group of boffins from various hospitals and universities, all PhDs, recently carried out a study of people’s sleeping habits and their chances of developing a common cold. They basically injected rhino-virus up the hooters of 153 volunteers and then monitored their sleeping habits to see who caught a cold…

What is Juicing?
Juicing is basically the extraction of the juice from raw fruits and veggies. The fibre, also known as pulp, is what’s left over and usually takes a few hours (if you’re Gillian McKeith) or a day for most of us, to pass though the body and come out the other end. By extracting the juices and drinking them in a raw form, we get the benefit of all the goodness immediately. Juices tend to be veggie-based and smoothies tend to be fruit-based, but both can contain both fruits and veggies – did you know that cucumbers and tomatoes are actually fruits?

Lemons

A lot of us have heard about the lemon detox diet, which effectively means going on a fast for 3-5 days (or longer) and consuming nothing but a mixture of syrup, cayenne pepper and lemon juice.  The promoted benefits on the website – www.lemondetox.com – include: weight loss, increased energy & vitality, shinier hair & stronger nails, clearer skin & eyes, better digestion and a greater sense of well-being.  This is all good stuff, but why would we need to do this and is there an alternative?
<more>
We generally eat and drink, and therefore digest, a lot of stuff during the day.  Hopefully some good (fruits, veggies, water etc.) and some not so good (processed food, fatty food, fizzy drinks, alcohol etc).  We also either ingest, breathe in or rub into ourselves many things that contain chemicals – some harmless, others not so harmless, especially when mixed together:
Pesticides, Herbicides,Fungicides, Fertilisers, Growth Hormones, Antibiotics, Vaccinations, Ripening Agents, Colourings, Additives, Sweeteners, Preservatives, Waxes, Hydrogenated Oils, Trans-fats, Cigaret Smoke, Benzene, Methanol, Radiation Treatment, Mobile signals, Wifi signals excetera.
Fortunately, our liver, kidneys and colon do a pretty good job at cleansing out most of the waste/toxins from this consumption.  The natural detoxification process takes place during the night when we’re sleeping – resetting various systems and getting us back into balance.  Going on a lemon detox takes this natural detoxification process one step further by resting the organs completely and helping to flush the system completely.  However, it is quite extreme, needs to be undertaken very carefully and not very often; an alternative is to develop the habit of drinking a freshly made lemon drink first thing in the morning before breakfast.
Upon waking, boil the kettle and then do the following:
1. Cut a lemon in half (use one half, save the other half until the next day)
2. Squeeze the juice into a glass by using a small spoon to hollow out the middle or better still, buy a basic lemon squeezer from a supermarket for a few dollars / pounds.
3. Add the juice to a medium size glass
4. Fill the glass with half filtered water and half boiled water to make a lukewarm mixture
5. Drink slowly
It acts as a natural cleanser – sweeping through our liver, kidneys and colon, mopping up toxins and residues.

Need Hair of the Dog? Best Hangover Cure

No matter how many times it happens, we always promise ourselves – never again!

Until the next opportunity for some drinks comes along, and we go out with the utmost resolute and unshakeable intention of ‘only having a few’. Several hours later, we’re at it again…ordering shots of sambuka from the bar and moving onto the dance floor for some John Travolta moves. Sunday morning arrives and we gradually come to with a furious headache and furry tongue.  Damn, never again (again)! Fortunately, there is a hangover cure like no other…
